Cauveri Suresh (they/them) is an artist whose work considers the relationship between bodies and physical environment. They have collaborated extensively with San Francisco-based choreographer Emma Lanier on interdisciplinary performances that respond to site and sculpture. Their solo work deals with time, mythology, and cycles of destruction. Cauveri’s recent choreographic work has been supported by Merde Project, the Foundation for Contemporary Art, Creativity Explored, Sonoma Ceramics, Destiny Arts Center, and Nava Dance Theater’s Unrehearsed Artist Residency. As a performer, they have had the pleasure of working for KT Nelson, Gerald Casel, Risa Jaroslow, Kickbal, Lauren Simpson, Ky Frances, and Jodi Melnick, among others. Cauveri’s work as a performer and choreographer is particularly influenced by their study with Joanna Kotze, Christina Robson, Doug Varone, and Okwui Okpokwasili. They graduated cum laude from Barnard College in 2018 with a B.A. in Dance. Cauveri was born and raised, and continues to live and work on unceded land of the Confederated Villages of Lisjan (Ohlone), in the territory of Huichin.
